Your branding
Your logo and colour, used on this app, on the lock screen a customer sees over the counter, on price tags and on receipts.
PNG or JPEG, up to 512KB. A wide wordmark works best — it is shown small in the side bar and large on the lock screen.
Locking the till
Lock the register when you step away and it asks for four digits to come back, not a full sign-in. The lock is held on the server, so closing the tab or reopening the app lands back on it.
This setting belongs to this device, not to the shop — a back-office machine and a counter till want different answers.
Your register PIN
Checking… Four to eight digits. Your password still unlocks the till, so a forgotten PIN never locks you out of your own shop.
Poynt Collect
Optional. Only for card-not-present payments on this site; in-person cards go through the terminal. Collect needs no API key — it identifies you by business and application. Leave a field blank to use the connected merchant.
API keys
Stored encrypted and never shown again — you get the last four characters back, nothing more. A key set here is used instead of the server's, so this shop is billed for its own usage.
Online store sync
Stops a one-of-one piece selling twice. Scanning at the register claims the piece immediately; telling the online catalogue is queued so a slow storefront never holds up a sale.
Barcode scanners
USB and Bluetooth scanners both act as keyboards — plug the USB one in, or pair the Bluetooth one in HID / keyboard mode (see its manual; most have a pairing barcode). No driver, nothing to install. Scans are picked up from any tab: away from the register a scan rings the item up and jumps back to the sale.
Pricing rules
Limits applied to what the appraiser suggests, and a markdown schedule for stock that is not moving. The list price on an item is never rewritten — the discount is worked out from how long the piece has been here, so a schedule can be changed or withdrawn at any time and every ticket is right immediately.
